
The Gulfstream 30 was designed for Derecktor Shipyards as a "stock" class boat. The design brief received by Bob Derecktor was to create "the smallest practical four-berth auxiliary." The result is a boat with double berth forward and two quarter berths separated by the galley amidships. The head is located under the forward berth, not an ideal setup but workable.

Displacement is a bit on the light side but not extreme. Constructon is white oak for structure and mahogany planking with a canvas covered plywood deck. The boat was introduced in 1954 at a base price of $9,800.
